Roger
Pedersen Motorsports ART
Motorsports Artist Roger Pedersen was born and raised in the Northwest. Roger is a self taught Artist that has been creating various works of art for friends and family over the past several years. Now you can purchase his art in the form of limited edition prints to display on your walls. Roger's art is created entirely with colored pencils. Everything within the drawing is done with colored pencils. His self titled white knuckle drawing technique gets it's name because of the considerable amount of pressure used during the coloring process. Each drawing starts out as a photo, which is then drawn in great detail using a standard No. 2 pencil. The color is then applied by layering the colors, one over another as many times as needed to achieve a smooth blend. Any decals, graphics, or fine details are colored directly onto the paper individually. Each drawing takes a considerable amount of time to create. Look for more exciting recreations of your favorite drag racing superstars from both the past and the present in coming years from Roger Pedersen Motorsports Art.
My Motorsports Photography came about because of RPM Art. My drawings are created from Photographs. So the natural progression was, that if I needed photos to draw from, then I should take them myself. As luck would have it I turned out to be a fairly good Photographer. So my Photography career started in 1994 at the Third Annual California Hot Rod Reunion. I have a real Love for Nostalgia Drag Racing and there just isn't a better event to get my fill of it. I continue to shoot at it each year, but as you can imagine, taking photographs once a year just wasn't going to cut it. So I asked the Livingston's who are the owners of Woodburn Dragstrip in Woodburn, OR if they would give me the opportunity to photograph at some of their larger events. Such as the "Oldies But Goodies" and the "Hot Rod Nationals" Nostalgia Drags, and events like the Funny Car & Divisional races, as well as the Annual "Pro Stock Shootout". This eventually turned into a fairly regular trip, and the number of events that I attended grew each year.
